Charter School Programs

About

NMFA has upcoming programs to help charter schools in New Mexico improve their facilities to better serve their students. These programs will provide low-interest financing for construction, refinancing, long-term financing, renovation or expansion, and more to meet the needs of charter schools.

The Charter School Facility Revolving Fund was created to make loans to charter schools to help improve their facilities. This $10 million fund will be available for renovation, expansion, or other construction needs of charter school facilities.

NMFA’s flagship program, the Public Project Revolving Fund, will be available to refinance lease-purchase agreements. Charter schools with an existing lease-purchase agreement in place and no construction needs may be eligible to refinance at a lower interest rate using the Public Project Revolving Fund.

NMFA has collaborated with the Public Charter Schools of New Mexico to survey the facilities needs of charter schools throughout the state, and will continue to collaborate with them on these new programs.

The target date for opening the charter school program is late 2024. More information will be available soon. Please fill out the form below or check back on this website.

PLEASE NOTE:  Charter schools that may wish to refinance their existing lease-purchase agreement for an LPA with a lower interest rate in 2025 will need to be on the 2025 Public Project Revolving Fund (PPRF) Legislative Authorization List. Legislative authorization is valid for three years. Inclusion on the list does not create an obligation to seek funding from NMFA.
